Bellevue, WA

A local story—and an American story.

World War II and the incarceration of Japanese Americans transformed the lives of farmers in Bellevue, WA. No one was left untouched by the sudden relocation from the neighborhood where they lived, worked, raised families, and participated in the community.
A group of Japanese American community members and descendants of Bellevue’s historic Japanese American families together with city, county, and cultural partners have engaged EDX to create an interpretive framework for a commemoration of the WWII-era Japanese American story. The project is currently in fabrication.
