Fort Union National Monument Visitor Center

Culture / Visitor Center

Mora County, NM

A story of upheaval and transition in the American West.

For forty years, between 1851 and 1891, Fort Union served as a military post overseeing the transformation of the American Southwest. The remnants of the fort, the preserved surrounding environment, and the park’s visitor center offer visitors a chance to immerse themselves in that changing world and a way to understand its lasting impact on the lives of people today.
EDX enhanced the visitor experience at Fort Union’s Visitor Center through the design of new accessible, interactive exhibits that appeal to diverse audiences. Work also included elements with an entry porch, a small vestibule, a visitor information desk, and a retail space.
